Beautiful Day!

October 31, 2007

What a gorgeous day we had! These days are few and far between in Kansas City in the fall! Either the wind is blowing like crazy, or it’s unseasonably cold, or it’s dreary and raining…it’s all just a roll of the dice! With two little ladies, one who was always on the move, we were lucky to have such a beautiful day.

I am Blessed!

October 30, 2007

I know that I don’t say it enough, but I truly am blessed to be able to do what I love…photographing babies and kids!

I am so lucky to have all of you in my lives! There is nothing I love more than getting to see my little tykes return every year. They change so much and grow up so fast. I am honored to be able to capture their little (and sometimes BIG) personalities, as the grow and change over the years!

This time of year can always be a little bit rough! Everyone wants to do fall outdoor family portraits, and unfortunately, there is never enough time in the day. I always take on way more than I can handle, and usually pay the price – little to no sleep! However, the lack of sleep and complete exhaustion are completely worth it!

In the last couple of weeks, I have received multiple hugs of thanks and two wonderful voicemails! There is nothing better than knowing that all of my hard work is making such a huge impact! Last weekend, I received the second voicemail that put the biggest smile on my face. The excitement over her portraits was so evident, and being referred to as the high-definition television of photographers by her husband…how can that not make it all worth while!

Thank you all for allowing me to do what I love, and continuing to support me and my business! It means the world to me!

Today is the Day!

October 29, 2007

What day would that be? Oh, the day that I turn 30! The Big 3-0!

No worries, age is really no big deal to me. It’s just another number. Besides, most of my friends have already been 30 for quite some time. In college, I was always the youngest, the last one in my group to turn 21…now I’m one of the last to turn 30!

My 20s brought SO much change, excitement and success that I’m excited to see what the next 10 years brings! Plus, I’ve heard that 30 is the new 20, what could be wrong with that!

This image of me and my squirts was taken by my good friend, Chris! Thank you, Chris!!

Our Own Holiday Card

October 28, 2007

Taking our family photo for our holiday card is always a huge undertaking! As a photographer, I would much prefer to be behind the camera, not in front of it. Now that we have two puppies, it’s even more complicated…the chance of all of us looking at the camera at the same time..slim to none!

With a little bit of magic, we were able to get a nice family image for our holiday card…you’ll just have to wait to get your card to see it!

Here is last year’s image – boy was that a fun one to take! It was about 30 degrees with ice on the ground on an early November morning.

Mom told me that Kyle’s nickname is Smiley! He just can’t help but smile! Though he was able to pull off quite a few very handsome serious images, the serious straight face did not last for long! His serious face turns into a left side smirk, then a complete smirk then a smile and finally a full fledged laugh!

October 26, 2007

Bring out the camera and Miss Grace turns into a goof! According to mom, I make funny faces when I’m behind the camera! My answer, of course, is “What else is supposed to make you smile, but my silly face!” It definitely worked with Grace and her family.

Boys will be boys! You can dress up these two brothers in nice red shirts, jeans and new shoes, but you can’t make them sit still! Jimmy & Willie are just like all other young boys, they have tons of energy! They like to be wild and crazy!

Testing Patience

October 24, 2007

Sophia is a smart little lady! Any questions I asked she was right there with the answer…from what sound does a rooster make (cook-a-doodle-do) to how old are you (two going on three). But she’s also a little hard headed and determined! She wanted to do what she wanted to do, and not anything that Mommy or I wanted to her to do!

That didn’t stop us from getting some adorable images of Miss Sophia! She has the best laugh and giggle, it just makes you laugh along with her!

Baby Jayhawk!

October 20, 2007

My great friends Brian and Cheri are expecting their first baby! I first met Brian and Cheri when we were in school at KU. Though they currently live in the cold, cold state of Minnesota, they still remain die-hard KU fans…their baby girl is sure to be a Baby Jayhawk!

I’m thrilled that I had the opportunity to photograph their maternity session! You can just see the excitement and happiness radiating from their faces! I can’t wait to meet Baby M!
