Wild & Crazy!

January 30, 2008

Gillian is always herself at photo sessions! She’s wild and crazy, full of energy, never holds still – she’s a lot of fun! Unfortunately, this year her fake smile made an appearance. Gillian’s smile sometimes took on a crooked, stick my jaw out funny, artificial look! We had to work extra hard to make sure we got the real Gillian smile!

Loves to Prove Mom Wrong

January 29, 2008

This is the second session where mom has told me Xander can’t do something, and he has proved her wrong! The first was his three month session, when mom said he couldn’t hold his head up – he showed her! This time, mom said he wasn’t a big fan of his tummy. She said he usually just gets mad.

Well, he proved her wrong! Not only did he stay on his tummy for a pretty long time, but he smiled and cooed! He even showed us that he can roll over from his tummy to his back!

I just can’t resist sharing all of the crazy and fun faces Xander made!

And of course, the thumb sucking and the stocking hat! I love these images!

Little Peanut

January 28, 2008

Rachel was also born a few weeks early, but she was a bit smaller at 6 lbs 4 ounces! She is SO little, with these little skinny legs. Her head is so small, that my smallest bow was almost too big, sometimes falling down in front of her face. When we cuddled her up in her gorgeous pink blanket, you could tell she was loving it!

Baby Matthew arrived a few weeks early, but still weighed in at 7 lbs! He wasn’t so sure about being naked, but he didn’t protest much verbally. He protested physically, kicking and squirming, hands and arms going everywhere! We’d just get him settled down and his legs would spring back out. After a full belly, he settled down, and we captured some adorable images. Even a few with his big blue eyes showing!

Two Kids on Her Hands!

January 25, 2008

Emily’s going to have her hands full with the new baby, and hubby Ryan – who’s a big kid, himself! He was a really good sport at their motherhood session, doing everything I asked, without complaining. But he was also a really big goof – blowing in Emily’s ear (not the romantic way), giving raspberry kisses on Em’s belly, making Emily laugh, being a big kid.

No, really, I just like to give him a hard time! They’re both going to be great parents! I see lots of fun times and lots of laughing and smiling in their future!

Two of Everything!

January 24, 2008

Identical twins, Aaron and Luke, were born in October. From day one, Luke has had almost one pound over his smaller brother, Aaron. This definitely helps tell them apart. In addition to their different personalities and expressions, mommy knows which one is which! She did paint their toenails for the first few weeks…worried that there might be a mix up.

I’ve always been amazed when photographing identical twins. I can see in person how much the look like each other, but when I start photographing them, they each take on their own look. I feel that I am able to capture their personalities and the things that make each of them unique, therefore making them look not so identical. I’m excited to watch Aaron & Luke grow and change!

Faith is such a sweet, laid back baby! She just takes everything as it comes. Whether it’s mommy cleaning her face, or pulling a very tight sweater over her head, she waits patiently. Mommy always gets rewarded with lots of hugs and snuggles from Miss Faith!

Even with her birthday cake, she took it all in stride. She was very determined to eat all that she could, but just one bite at a time. There was no craziness involved. Just a very methodical approach, from cake to mouth, look around, make sure no one’s going to take it away, and then from cake to mouth again!

I Survived…

January 22, 2008

A Root Canal. Well, okay, part one of a root canal. Back in college, I had to have an emergency root canal, due to a dentist’s mishap. He had drilled too close and exposed a nerve. Yuck! I found out last month, that my root canal was failing. After two consultations, and many discussions with our insurance, I ended up with Dr. McCreary in Lawrence.

I am so NOT a teeth person. Going to the dentist or anything else related to teeth, is one of my very least favorite things to do. So the fact that I can say I survived, and that Dr. McCreary did a very nice job, is a huge deal! Except for the initial shots, and the extremely uncomfortable sound of the drilling (which almost made me pass out), it was a painless experience. Of course, the doc warned me as I was leaving, that I could have tooth pain for the next week. Hopefully he was over exaggerating, so that when I have a little bit of pain, I am pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately, I have to go back in a month to finish the process. They want to make sure that it’s healing correctly and doesn’t need more extensive work before they seal it all up. I’m sure I’ll survive that trip, too!

Minnesota Baby!

January 17, 2008

Miss Adele! Such a sweet, sweet baby! In the 24 hours that we spent visiting baby Adele, in the freezing cold of Minnesota, I only heard her cry once. Even that cry was just a whimper, when mommy was changing her diaper. I don’t blame her, she was probably cold! That’s why my handy space heater traveled to Minnesota with me! It’s a necessary item for newborn sessions. The adults in the room may be sweating, but the baby is always warm and happy!
