Pet Portraits Revealed

August 29, 2008

I am excited to announce that the Helping Paws (One Lick at a Time) Pet Portraits slide show has been created! The overwhelming response and participation that we had was awesome!

The purpose of the event was to collect donations and gifts for Wayside Waifs, a humane society committed to helping homeless animals find a permanent place to call home. The response was overwhelming! I was in awe of all the donations that we received. Delivering them to Wayside Waifs was an unbelievable experience. They were so very thankful and appreciative. It was all worth it!

Follow this link to the Helping Paws Pet Portrait slide show, and take a glance at all the furry, four-legged kids that helped in the cause! The password is "petportraits".

Little Man

August 28, 2008

AJ was born weighing 5 lbs 7 ounces, and came home from the hospital at 5 lbs. Just a few days later he was ready for his newborn session! Mommy and Daddy brought him into the studio, and I couldn’t believe how little he was. So little and so cute! He has this great hair – it’s not black, which is the newborn baby norm, but instead it’s this soft shade of brown with some natural highlights. It’s so cute!

Look at the size of AJ’s foot compared to daddy’s thumb….amazing!

He was a trooper, putting up with all the chaos that two older sisters bring!

Freeze

August 27, 2008

Somehow, we got very lucky, and were able to get Aaron and Luke to freeze in one place long enough to capture some images of the two of them together! They are both fast crawlers, and they are even cruising along furniture now, so how we were able to get them to hold still is beyond me! Though I will say, I was making so many loud, crazy noises in an attempt to get their attention and to distract them, that I’ll be lucky if I still have a voice tomorrow. (But it was worth it!)

They are both very happy, good natured babies, full of smiles and giggles! Those adorable round faces, and chubby bodies just make me smile!

Mr. Peeing Baby Turns One!

August 27, 2008

Evan is a famous Photography by Brandi baby, even though very few people know him personally! At Evan’s newborn session, I caught him in a photograph in mid-pee, while mommy & daddy were holding him. The resulting image was just too great, so I enlarged it and it hangs in the Photography by Brandi bathroom. The number of clients who walk into our bathroom and come out laughing is quite high!

Evan arrived at the studio for his one year session, looking like a completely different kid! He has grown and changed SO much, that I didn’t even recognize him. He now has long brown hair, but his big blue eyes remain. He was loving all of the attention, and striking lots of poses for the camera. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending how you look at it, nothing drastic occurred at his session that would replace the peeing portrait!

Still a Happy Baby!

August 26, 2008

From day one, Meika has been a happy baby. At her newborn session, she gave me the biggest, gummiest grin I have ever seen on a newborn.

Now, she’s one year old, and nothing has changed. The morning of her session, she woke up with a slight temperature, and didn’t seem to be feeling perfect, but that did not stop her from performing at her session. She was full of grins and giggles!

Happy Birthday!

August 25, 2008

Happy 32nd Birthday to my fun-loving, crazy, kid-at-heart hubby!

Crazy Adult Alert!

August 23, 2008

Adele was not interested in us at all! She was interested in the tutu, in the ceiling, in the windows, in her reflection, anything except the three adults acting ridiculously crazy trying to get her attention! But that did not stop us from trying!

After a short break for a bottle and a clean diaper, she turned on some charm – making tons of funny faces, sucking on her bottom lip and talking to us! She definitely knows how to show off those big, blue eyes!

KU or Bust

August 21, 2008

Cody is headed to KU in just a few weeks. However, before he can leave, he came out to see me for some fun post-senior portraits!

Luckily he keeps his hair nice and short, so I never had to fix it, even when we were outside in the breezy air! Cody did fairly well at following my directions, except when I wanted him to put his right side forward…that is something he cannot do. Not sure why, he blames it on the fact that he’s left handed. I think it’s just a cute quirk!

Pancake Puppies

August 20, 2008

This summer Pancake Puppies Joey and Pebbles went to visit many of our young clients. Everyone was encouraged to color, decorate, accessorize and bling out their Pancake Puppies. Then they hit the road with them, taking them to the lake, on vacation, or their favorite summer spots, capturing fun photographs along the way.

Everyone was asked to submit several photos of their Pancake Puppies having fun. I have loved receiving all of the fun images. It looks like Joey and Pebbles had a great time this summer. I’m very impressed with how creative everyone was, not only with their accessorizing, but also with the posing and creative photographs.

Now, comes the hard part…the voting! Follow this link to see all of the images. We have divided them up into three age groups (3-5, 6-8 and 9-11). Vote for your favorite image!

Once the winners are revealed, we will get to hear all about Joey and Pebbles’ summer explorations that led to the creation of the winning image.

You have until September 1st to vote. One vote per email address. Encourage all your friends and family to vote for your favorite Pancake Puppy!

Thanks to everyone who participated. I heard that there was lots of fun and excitement that went into this summer project.

Big Brother

August 20, 2008

Jacob is the older big brother, and though patient with his little brother and sister, it can be hard to be the more responsible, older brother. So, we took some time to just photograph him, all by himself, even capturing some with his cello.

Jacob loves to be happy and laugh! The best part for me was making him laugh…he has a great giggle and his eyes just sparkle when he’s really laughing!
