Army Crawl

September 30, 2008

For quite a while, Wyatt sat in one spot. He would turn from side to side, constantly flashing me smiles and cute expressions. Then he decided he needed to check it all out. He got down on his belly, and, though he is very close to actually crawling, his army crawl is SO much faster! Flat on his belly, he uses his arms to pull himself forward. He is FAST! If we would have let him, he would have explored the entire studio, checking everything out from his belly height.

Take 2

September 30, 2008

Every once in a while, we have to do a take 2 with a session. Usually it turns out that the baby isn’t feeling so well, or they are getting teeth, or sometimes they are just having a bad day. It doesn’t happen very often, but sometimes it happens. My rule is that the kiddo runs the show, so if they are not ready or up for performing, then we take a break and try again.

For Dominic, it was a little bit of everything. He hadn’t been feeling well, and had been spending a lot of time cuddling with mommy. So the idea of mommy putting him down for his session was not well received. He spent the majority of the time crying and wanting mommy. Mommy couldn’t get further than a few inches away without a major meltdown. I could see that we were not going to be getting anywhere, so we rescheduled…with a new plan. The daddy plan!

We made arrangements for daddy and big sister to bring Dominic out for his session. Though he was still a little tentative about being left, he must have been feeling much better, because he turned on the charm!

When Dominic gets really excited, he balls up his fists and shakes them around. One of my favorite moves is when he sticks out his arm, holding his fist tight, like he’s going to give you a fist bump. I definitely got to capture his personality the second time around!

Bobble Head on Legs

September 25, 2008

This is my term of endearment for Mister Matthew. At just eight months old, he has mastered the art of pulling himself up and standing while holding on. Unfortunately, there’s not much balance yet! His whole body kind of bobbles and shakes. It’s extremely cute and looks just like a bobble "head".

Despite our best efforts, Matthew was NOT a fan of hats!

All Done

September 24, 2008

Just five minutes into Gabriella’s two year session, she announced, "all done". This continued to be the theme for the rest of the session. It wasn’t that she was upset or frustrated, because she would tell grandma that she was having fun. She just needed action and variety! As long as I kept bringing her new chairs to sit on, new stools to climb on and just kept the variety coming, she was good to go!

Of course, it helps that she knows me very well! In the last two months, this was the third time I had seen Gabriella. That’s what happens when your baby brother is born the month before you turn two!

Such A Boy!

September 23, 2008

Gabe may have two older sisters, but he is a boy! The morning of his one year session, mom told me she had tried to give him a doll to keep him occupied while she got his older sisters ready for school, and he promptly threw it on the floor!

At his session he was a climbing and standing daredevil on the little bench. Combined with throwing himself into the background, exploring, falling, and mutilating his birthday cake…he had a blast being a little boy!

What Awesome Hair!

September 22, 2008

The first thing I noticed when Kalea walked in the door was her awesome hair! At only eight months old, she has more hair than some two year olds that I know. Her hair has awesome body and style…I love it!

The funniest thing happened when I started photographing Kalea. The flashing lights confused her and she started doing these crazy blinks. I’ve had this happen a few times with adults, but I have never seen a kid blink like that. It was hilarious! Luckily, it didn’t take very long for her to get used to it, and then we were good to go!

No Stopping Here

September 17, 2008

Jacob is almost four years old. However, he is not a calm four years old. He’s a great kid, full of energy, laughter and smiles…but, he does not stop! He talks constantly! He moves constantly! There is not a still bone in his body. That doesn’t stop me from capturing his adorable expressions and personality…it just makes it more challenging!

Working Up A Sweat!

September 17, 2008

Between mommy and I, there was a lot of sweating going on. Elyse had no interest in us at all! She just wanted to walk around. She tried to play with the outlets. She tried to play with her brother’s shoes. Anything as long as it wasn’t cute worked for Elyse! Forcing mommy and I to pull out all the stops just to get Elyse to pause and give us some cute expressions. It was a lot of work, but we made it happen…adorable teeth and all!

The Greatest Show On Earth!

September 15, 2008

On Sunday, Pete and I accompanied our friends Kimberly, Shawn, Madison, Kennedy & Jackson to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus. It has been forever since I have been to a kids circus. A few months ago we went to the Cirque du Soleil show. It was so much fun, that when I saw the Ringling circus was coming to town, it was a must see!

This was the first time the kids had ever been to a circus, which made for a great experience. It’s always amazing to see things through the eyes of a child. The laughter, amazement and joy was definitely contagious!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

September 14, 2008

I don’t know about you, but this dark, dreary, cold, rainy weather is extremely depressing to me! What happened to summer? I’m totally a warm weather girl, give me 80s, 90s, even 100s and I would be much happier than what we’ve have for the last two weeks!

Of course, I looked outside last night and saw a beautiful sunset. I guess that’s one good thing about storms, you can get some pretty unique skies!
