I Did It!

April 30, 2009

Elise’s two year session was smooth sailing! She was in a great mood, totally willing to be here and excited to have her photo taken. Big difference from her 18 month session, when we spent the entire time chasing her around the studio!

She’s currently in the repeater stage, where anything you say is fair game to be repeated. I loved listening to her little one liners, that I know she has gotten from daddy. My favorite statement of hers was “I did it!” She would say this after sitting on the stool or getting off the stool, she would exclaim “I did it!”. There was so much excitement in her voice and she was so proud of herself, that it’s hard not to just smile and laugh right along with her!

Elise’s last three sessions – One Year, 18 Months and Two Year. Isn’t it amazing how much they change? Do you think Mommy likes pink for her girly girl?!?

First Year Album

April 30, 2009

Matthew’s Mommy & Daddy decided that the way they wanted to remember their kiddos’ first year was in a beautiful, timeless, leather album. We created their first album two years ago for Matthew’s older sister, Abby.

This past January, Matthew turned one! Since just a few days after he was born, Matthew has been visiting our studio once a month, every month! The result has been lots of adorable images. It was very difficult to narrow them down to fit in a twenty page album.

One of my favorite parts of the album are the journal entries and special memories provided by Mom. It’s the perfect way to add those very personal touches!

Now, we are just waiting for the album to be printed and bound together. I can’t wait to see the final product!

Not Photogenic?

April 29, 2009

It seems that recently the high school seniors I’ve been working with have all felt like they are not very photogenic. Which to me is crazy, because I think every one of them has been extremely photogenic. By the end they’re usually working the camera like professional models, with a variety of different expressions.

Alex was no different! I thought he did a great job of turning on the charm for the camera. Those intense eyes, when he’s serious, are just awesome!

Stuffing His Face

April 28, 2009

Colton was in a very happy mood for his portrait session! Smiling, laughing and showing off his little teeth. He absolutely loved daddy playing peek-a-boo with him, and thought it was great when we cheered for him.

When we brought out the birthday cake, this all changed. He became serious and very focused. He immediately dived in, stuffing his face full of cake! Fistfuls and fistfuls of cake, taken directly from the cake to his mouth. He would look at us and you could see him processing the whole scene. He was just convinced we were going to take it away and he needed to devour it as quickly as possible!

Bed Head Kids Success!

April 20, 2009

We just finished our Bed Head Kids event, and it was awesome! The only thing that could have made it better would have been a warm sunny, non-windy day, so we could have set up our check-in area outside, but that by no means ruined the day.

We had a total of 22 kiddos participate, which definitely kept me plenty busy and on my toes the whole day! It was awesome to see the outfits that were selected. By far, the overwhelming favorite by all the ladies was the princess outfit! I photographed Cinderella and Tinkerbelle and many other princesses! There were also quite a few tutus, and some fun “surely this goes together” outfits (my favorites by far!) The boys brought a variety of outfits, from Spiderman to cowboy to fun crazy striped pajamas to a shirt and tie (his choice!).

It’s fun to see the kids come out of their shells and really get into their outfits. Being able to dress comfortably and crazy was a ton of fun!

Keep watching the blog, I will be posting lots of fun images!

In honor of Bed Head Kids day, our custom designed Converse shoes arrived just in time for their unveiling today. They were a big hit and quite comfortable for a long day on my feet!

April 19, 2009

Joey, Pebbles & Pete participated in the Blackbob Pet Hospital Easter parade on Saturday. There’s a first time for everything! Yes, I do put them in clothes, but usually it’s sweatshirts or t-shirts…not dresses and ties!

Of course, the were just groomed on Friday, so their hair was a little short and didn’t quite fill out their outfits. That didn’t stop them from being a hit with all the other attendees!

Happy, Happy!

April 17, 2009

You would never have known that Sydney’s session conflicted with her normal nap routine! She was just as happy as could be! I don’t think I got one serious image of her the entire session. She was just smiling and hamming it up the entire time.

She was so excited to be here! We actually made it through three whole outfits and she still wanted more!

Why is it that every time you tell a kiddo to make a funny face, this is the face they make??

Pillow Fights

April 15, 2009

We I started with Ally, Ryan & Jason, we used the more traditional photography look of black shirts and jeans. It’s always nice to have that classic, timeless style. Then we quickly transitioned to pjs, books and pillows. This was a much more natural environment. They much prefer ganging up and pummeling each other with pillows, then they do standing close together and snuggling!

A Challenge

April 13, 2009

Gabe was in the mood to create a challenge! By the time the session was done, mommy and I were both exhausted. Every piece of furniture in the studio had been moved, relocated and moved again. There was drool on the background, on the chair, on Gabe’s clothes, on mommy’s clothes, on the teddy bear, even on me! Gabe had eaten craisins and a sucker, and he was still full of energy!

Eighteen months can be a challenge just because of the age. They want to do what they want to do and not what you want them to do. Which is completely okay with me. I want them to do what they want to do, and what makes them happy. To add to that, Gabe spent the entire session sticking his tongue out of the corner of his mouth. He would give me these great stares and adorable smiles, but his tongue was sticking out! It was driving me crazy! We just kept trying different things, and every once in a while he’d give me his great Gabe expressions without the tongue, but it was definitely a waiting game!

Camera Shy?!?

April 8, 2009

By looking at her images, you would never know that Bekah would prefer to be on my side of the camera, instead of in front of the camera. Bekah enjoys an artist’s view of the world, including drawing, music and photography. But she would much prefer being the artist then the model.

Of course, when have you ever known an unwilling model to slow me down? We chatted, shared stories, laughed, smiled, froze our booties off in the chilly, windy weather and, all in all, had a blast!
