No Sun, But Gorgeous Colors

November 14, 2009

It was another one of those crazy October days, where it was mostly cloudy, but the sun would poke out every so often. There was definitely a chill in the air…but it could have been SO much worse!

With just a hint of sunlight and a secluded area where we couldn’t feel the cold breeze, Xander, Faith and I set out to take their fall portraits.

At six years old, Xander is the perfect age for pestering his bigger sister, Faith, who just turned thirteen! I have to give Faith credit, she put up with a lot of pestering, and never once (during the session) did she pester back!

Except for having to remind them both to sit up and not slouch every few seconds, the session went great!

Soccer Girl

November 13, 2009

Mazey loves soccer! Once a week she has practice and then she plays games every weekend…it doesn’t matter how cold it is! She’s even scored some goals!

Of course, with as much energy as she has, I can totally see her running the field! I bet she doesn’t even wear out after a full game of soccer.

I would love to find a way to bottle the energy that six year olds have. Where does it come from? AND how can I get some?

We had lots of fun at her session! Mazey was wild and crazy, which drove her Momma crazy, but I’m used to wild and crazy and know how to just go with the flow. When I go with the flow, I am able to capture true personalities! There’s nothing I love more than seeing the true personality coming through in my photographs!

Not to mention that awesome gap in her smile!! I love the missing teeth stage!

For Your Wall

November 12, 2009

Our framed and matted collections are some of our most popular items! They’re a great way to show personalities, the love of a family, the adorable itty bitty parts of a newborn or even just the different expressions of a high school senior.

Our newest addition is the Quad! The images are 6×8, which is a great viewing size. However, the overall piece is not huge, ensuring it can hang with other pieces or even by itself on a smaller wall.

It’s a must have for your next session!

Another Windy Day

November 11, 2009

I feel like all of my blog posts for sessions in October have said the exact same thing. The weather was icky and the wind was blowing us away! Unfortunately, I guess that’s just the way it is sometimes…sometimes you’re lucky with the weather and sometimes you just have to work with what you have!

We were able to sort of tuck ourselves away in between the trees where the wind wasn’t too crazy. Of course, that didn’t mean that the kids weren’t too crazy!

Izzy, Abby and Gabe spent most of October passing around the sickies. So even though Gabe wasn’t feeling 100%, we just had to go for it. The chance of us catching all three of them healthy, and a beautiful fall day all at the same time, was slim to none!

Despite Gabe being a bit restless, and needing some loving every so often, the three of them hung in there for as long as their energetic little selves would allow!

Something Different

November 10, 2009

Our home is decorated with photographic art…including portraits of our four legged, furry children! Although each piece is different, they are all photographs taken by yours truly, and are very realistic, capturing their personalities and their individualism.

I wanted something different for the family room. I commissioned my mother, Joyce, an oil painter, to create more of an abstract look of our cuties!

I am thrilled with the outcome!

She coordinated the background color to complement our large family portrait, which hangs over the mantle. Add a few new pillows, and the red toned color has become the accent color of the room.

Even though the paintings are more abstract and are not detailed representations of Joey and Pebbles, I can still see their personalities shining through.

Thanks, Mom! We love them!

Cold!

November 10, 2009

This past October was a bummer in terms of being a pretty fall. There were a couple of nice days, but they were pretty far and few between. We just had to work with what we had!

The day of Tanner’s session was not great, but it was workable. The cold temps barely phased Tanner, he was ready to run and play. We just had to be close by to make sure he didn’t go splat on the soggy ground. Tanner became a little ball obsessed, when he decided that the twenty hedge apples on the ground near us were balls!

Despite his red nose and frozen fingers, Tanner showed off his big eyes, gorgeous eyelashes and adorable smiles and expressions!

Frog or Toad?

November 9, 2009

In our water ponds by the house, we have this enormous frog (or toad, I’m not sure how to tell the difference!). I’ve nick named him Froggy. He’s been around for awhile, but usually stays pretty hidden. Recently, Froggy has been making some limited appearances.

Seeing as Lauren is an animal lover, and owner of a snake (Slither), a tarantula (Legs) and a lizard (Rex), you can imagine her excitement when she got out of the car, looked into the pond and saw ginormous Froggy hanging out! She was convinced that she was going to catch him and take him home. That’s all she proceeded to talk about during the entire portrait session.

Lucy wasn’t quite as excited about Froggy, but she sure was good at making frog sounds, as well as many other animal sounds! Lucy is also talker! She filled me in on all the family news, all the weekend activities and even some school and friend news! I am now in the know!

She’s a Teenager!

November 6, 2009

For Faith’s 13th Birthday, Mom thought she deserved her very own photo shoot! We had it all planned…she was going to get her hair done, she got to pick out whatever she wanted to wear and then she was going to come see me all on her birthday!

Unfortunately, not only did Faith spend her birthday being sick, but the next two weeks were off and on sick days for her! The photo shoot plans were forced to change a bit.

After her outdoor fall session, with her brother, for their holiday cards and gifts, Faith and I were able to spend some one on one time inside. She wore her favorite accessories…zebra stripes! I even turned on the fan which gave us that great, windswept model look!

We had a ton of fun, and now Faith (and her Mom) have some great images to remember turning into a real teenager!

Happy Birthday, Faith!!

Siblings

November 2, 2009

Working with young siblings can be a challenge! Usually, they both want to do completely different things at the same time. One will smile and the other will cry. One will run away while the other strikes a pose. However, with a little bit of patience and some determination, we can almost always make it work!

Elise & Evan were no different! If Elise was smiling, Evan was crying. If Evan was smiling, Elise was sucking her thumb! It was definitely comedic watching the two of them do exactly the opposite. But, not to worry, in the end we still captured them both being adorable!

Oh-Kay

November 1, 2009

Even though I just saw Meika a few months ago for her two year session, I was honored and excited to have her come back for her holiday portrait session! She is adorable and SO full of personality.

She was spinning and dancing and jumping. Some of it seemed a bit odd, in her gorgeous, fancy holiday dress, but she didn’t care. My favorite thing was when you would ask her to do something, she would pause and then answer back with this adorable Oh-Kay. It cracked me up every time! She just sounded so grown up and it sounded like she was actually agreeing with you, when in fact she really had her own plans in mind. She was just humoring me!
