Spring Time

April 28, 2011

Spring has been slowly arriving. The green grass is replacing the brown grass. The blooms on the trees are starting to appear. The gentle breezes, and warm temperatures, are blowing in.

Always accompanying the arrival of spring is the time for First Communion portraits.

Xander is your typical eight year old boy…full of energy, into being silly and gross, never holding still, active, active, a jokester, more comfortable in jeans and a sweatshirt, a sports player and sports lover! So, asking Xander to put on a suit and tie, hold a rosary and give us nice, calm, reserved expressions…was a big deal.

Xander worked it like a pro! Yes, we had a few silly moments here and there, but for the most part he accepted the challenge and fulfilled it to the max!

Which considering, we were trying really hard to match a portrait I had taken of his older sister six years ago in her First Communion dress, we couldn’t have asked for anything more from Xander!

Baby Sister

April 27, 2011

Big Sister Morgan is still checking out Baby Sister Alexandra. She knows where the baby is, and she’s definitely interested in what the baby is doing. She’s also very into kissing her and touching her, which gives her the chance to learn the word gentle! She pats the baby and touches the baby, but her hand just has a lot of force behind it. She’s not trying to be hard; she’s just 18 months old and is still working it out!

The good news is that baby sister seems to be going with the flow! With an active big sister and a puppy dog at home, Alexandra is learning to be patient and easy going!

She gave us a little challenge to start off her session, but after filling up her belly, and a little cuddling on Mommy’s chest, she drifted off to sleep, ready for some camera action!

Dancing Machine

April 25, 2011

Reid doesn’t need loud music to feel the rhythm…he grooves to the rhythm in his head!

Many times during his one year session, he busted out with some fabulous dance moves. He had the arms going. He had the tapping foot. When he was standing, his whole body would start shaking! The head bobbing and the big, scrunchy nose smiles, that went along with the dance moves, were definitely the cherry on top!

Just Released – The Step Up Date!

April 23, 2011

The date for the annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk has been released! It will be Saturday, October 29th! (Please note, this also happens to be my birthday. As if you needed a better reason to join our team…supporting our clients with Down syndrome and celebrating my birthday, it’s a two for one!!)

Yes, I know, it’s still many months away, but last year was such a great experience, I can’t wait for this year to top it! Last year, we had 24 team members and raised $2,030…which I was completely thrilled with! This year, will you help me beat that?!?

Mark your calendars! More details and the link for signing up will be coming soon!

Just in case you need some motivation to participate, here is the link to last year’s event. We had a blast!

Growing and Changing

April 22, 2011

I love photographing a baby multiple times during their first year! I’m always just blown away by how much they grow and change. Only a couple of months will have gone by since I last saw them, and yet, it’s like I’m looking at an entirely different little person.

Little Austin started out at a mere 7 lbs and 14 ounces. Here he is at his newborn session.

Just a few months later, at his four month session, this is what he looks like! We’re not quite sure what he weighs, but I know it’s definitely much more than 8 pounds!

He has a tint of reddish colored hair starting to appear, he’s starting to talk, and he’s found his tongue, which is very fun for making noises. Best of all, he’s working on those expressions!

Couldn’t Decide

April 21, 2011

Noah couldn’t decide if he should be happy or upset! He went from both extremes during his entire session. One minute, he’d be super excited and happy as could be. The next minute, he’d be head back, crying his sad cry.

We think it was a combination of needing some more nap time and the fact that he had his first year shots the day before. He just wasn’t sure what he wanted!

He certainly made us work for it, but it was worth it! His smiles are just so darn adorable. And his cries, they’re pretty cute, too!

April 19, 2011

I think every kid has the exact same answer to the question, “What is your favorite thing about school?” Cierra’s answer was like many answers I’ve heard in the past…recess.

Her favorite thing to do at recess…play Noodle Tag. They all take foam Noodles and then chase each other. If you get tagged then you have to freeze, in a wide, legs spread stance, until someone crawls between your legs.

Doesn’t it always make you wonder, who comes up with these crazy rules? You know we all did weird games when we were their age, as well, and we certainly didn’t think they were bizarre at the time, but now we’d probably laugh at half the games we played!

Priceless Quotes

April 19, 2011

Mommy told me that she was interested in The Quote album for Sydney’s Five Year session, which meant I spent some time peppering Sydney with questions and loving every bit of her adorable answers!

I don’t want to give them all away, but I definitely have to share some of my favorites!

What color is happiness? “Yellow, because it’s the color of teeth. And you smile when you’re happy.”

What do you want to be when you grow up? “A Butterfly Fairy, because they get to fly around.”

How do you describe Love? “When you live with family.”

Who is your favorite person? “My Daddy, because he lets us do all kinds of things, except for the teeter totter.”

The imagination and creativity of a child!

Talking & Laughing

April 18, 2011

Even though a senior portrait session was not at the top of Adam’s list of things to do on a Thursday afternoon, Adam’s senior session was full of talking and laughing! We talked about everything from activities he did as a kid to dreams he has for his future. In between, we laughed, joked and even got some awesome expressions out of Adam.

A Bed Head Success!

April 17, 2011

Our Bed Head Kids event turned out to be a perfect Sunday! The temperatures were nice and, even though there was a period of grey skies and some crazy wind, everyone made it into the studio safe, sound and dry!

We had a variety of participants…including a rock star, a soccer player, a monkey, a princess, and a even a fireman, just to name a few. Everyone was dressed in their best, with the necessary accessories, and even a little hair color dye!

It was fun to let them all be loose and goofy! I got roared at 100 times. I danced like a monkey. But best of all, I had fun! There were tons of laughs, smiles and fun kid poses!

I hope these images put smiles on your faces!
