Just Like Two Year Olds

May 31, 2011

I’ve always said, dogs are like two year olds. They always need you to feed them. You have to take them potty, and clean up their messes. They need you to play with them and entertain them. They wouldn’t make it through the day, if it wasn’t for you. And best of all, they give unconditional love!

Of course, they can act just like two year olds as well! They can be unsure and anxious in new situations. They can be stubborn and not listen, or follow commands. They can let their tongues hang out, making weird faces! But then, they can look at you with love and sweetness all over the faces, and you’ll just melt!

These three sisters gave us a workout! Between the three of them, I think we experienced all of it…stubborn, anxiety, listening, sweetness, ornery, funny faces and serious expressions!

It was all worth it!

Princess Pebbles

May 30, 2011

Turns five years old today!! It’s hard to imagine what life was like before Miss Pebbles entered our world. Of course, now we couldn’t imagine it any other way! She’s a lover, a snuggler, a bossy boo, a chicken, an entertainer and a constant companion!

Of our three furry kiddos, she definitely has the biggest personality and the most unusual quirks!

I love you bunches my little Diva!

Just a Whisper

May 26, 2011

Miss Lily quietly walked in the door carrying Raffe the giraffe. She was super cooperative, letting Daddy brush her hair and change her clothes, letting me take off her chipping nail polish and the big, green smiley faces that had been stamped on her hands. The entire time, she was as happy as could be, flashing tiny grins.

The session was off to a good start. Lily was a little clingy to Daddy, wanting him to be right near her, but that’s not unusual for a two and a half year old. Especially, considering it’s been a year and a half since I last photographed her…I don’t think she remembered me!

I asked Lily questions about her doggy and her kitty, animal sounds and even colors. Though Lily was quick to respond, her answer came in a whisper. An almost unhearable whisper. That didn’t stop the smiles and the big, blue-eye expressions, though.

At the very end, when they’re getting ready to leave, Daddy says, “We have to go potty first, Lily.” Lily looks right at me and says in a loud, big girl voice “I have to go tinkle!” That completely cracked me up! I’d be willing to bet there’s a firecracker underneath that sweet whisper!

Daddy’s Little Girl

May 26, 2011

Sophia walked in the door wearing a shirt that said, “Daddy has my heart”. The shirt was not kidding!

During the session, she was a total Daddy’s girl. Daddy was the one who could make her smile. Daddy was the one she followed with her eyes. Daddy was the one she wanted to crawl to. If Daddy walked away, Sophia turned on the tears…the only solution, Daddy picking her up and loving on her!

Yep, she’s got that Daddy wrapped around her finger! Of course, how could you not look into those big, blue eyes and just melt!

Baby Surprise

May 24, 2011

Not only did Mommy & Daddy wait to find out if they were having a boy or a girl with baby number two, (which, by the way, turned out to be a girl!) but Mommy also had me do a session with her, big brother Camden and baby belly number two as a surprise for Daddy! Mommy looked so radiant with her maternity glow, that I know Daddy’s going to love having these special memories of Mommy and her two babies!

It took a little coaxing to get almost two year old Camden to hug and kiss Mommy’s belly, but after a few bribes, some silliness and smiles, we captured a few precious moments!

Oh, Baby!

May 16, 2011

A third little baby, a baby girl, is going to be arriving soon, and Abby & Matthew could not be more excited! I was told that they were going to help change diapers and hold her when she cries, and really help Mommy out. I imagine there will also be quite a bit of loving and smothering going on!

Abby & Matthew have never ending energy. Adding a third to the mix is definitely going to be keeping Mommy on her toes! Not to mention, future family portrait sessions will be very entertaining!

Over the years that I have been photographing Tanner, we have had great sessions and we have had challenging sessions. There seems to be a pattern to it: he’ll have a good session, followed by a difficult session, followed by a good session. So, I guess, I should have been prepared!

Tanner came out a few weeks ago to participate in our Bed Head Kids event, and he worked the camera like a pro! He was super cooperative, showing off his fun Spidi-Man outfit and really got into it.

This time, for his birthday session, he was Mister Stubborn! He did not want anything to do with anything. He was not interested in bribes, treats, toys…nothing! It made for quite the challenging session! I would get a couple of snaps and then he’d put his back to me, or he’d hide his face on the ground. It was an ongoing circle of a short burst of cooperation, followed by a longer burst of stubbornness!

Luckily, the short bursts of cooperation were all I needed to capture some adorable three year old Tanner images!
