Knowledge Sharing

April 30, 2012

When it comes to computer and video games, I know practically nothing. Luckily, the fact that I know very little did not phase Paul, who is definitely an expert in that department!

Paul spent his session teaching me all about the ins and outs of a variety of games – from the bad guys I would meet, to the weapons I would have to defeat them. He even told me the games to stay away from because they are tricky and unfair.

If I was a video gamer, I would definitely want Paul as a friend. His thirst for knowledge and ability to remember small details would give me a leg up for sure!

A Good Eater

April 29, 2012

Abigail was born weighing 8 1/2 pounds, so she didn’t start out super tiny, and she’s not holding back! At just seven weeks old, she’s definitely got the round face, double chin, chunky thighs look going on…and it’s adorable! Being a baby…it’s good living! It’s the only time being a chunky monkey is an awesome and adorable thing!

I was so excited when we were able to rock her to sleep, and once she was really out…she was out! She let me move her and pose her just like a newborn. Of course, the rolls made some posing a little more challenging, but it was all worth it!

Talking Up a Storm

April 27, 2012

Mommy told me that during Hannah’s first year she was a quiet little thing. She wasn’t a big baby babbler. They had a hard time getting her to start talking. Hannah’s seven week old sister is already talking more than Hannah did!

Well, guess what?!? She’s three and she’s making up for it! During her session, she did not stop talking! She asked questions, she answered questions, she told stories, she told me things she remembered from her last session with me. Let’s just say there was never a dull moment!

I also learned some very interesting new facts. Penguins live in Antarctica. Giraffes live in the zoo. Polar bears live where it’s hot. AND Turtles say “gurgle”!

The Middle Kid

April 24, 2012

Jacob will be graduating from eighth grade in just about a month. Next step…high school! It’s the perfect reason to have his own portrait session. In years past, he’s had to share the spotlight with his brothers, but this year, it was all about him!

We spent lots of one on one time talking! We discussed his grades…eeek!…no, they’re good, no worries! Talked about all the sports he plays – soccer, basketball, volleyball and snowboarding…sheesh, makes me tired just thinking about it. His current and summer jobs – newspaper delivery boy and bike riding billboard sign puller…can’t say those were jobs I tried as a teen.

All in all, I had a blast getting to know Jacob! I’m wishing him a speedy end to middle school, a fun summer and an awesome start to high school.

No Cake for Henry

April 19, 2012

Henry started his session off just as happy as could be! Huge smiles, big laughs and bright eyes! He loved playing peek-a-boo with me, and silly Daddy faces brought big open mouth laughs. As the session progressed, he started to slow down and we could tell that he was getting tired.

We made the transition to birthday cake photo time, changed clothes, brought out a cake full of sugar and set Henry down, assuming he would get a second wind and at least make a mess of the cake. We were wrong! Happy Henry was no more! He wanted nothing to do with the cake, and once he had some on his hands, it was melt down city. Henry does not like to be messy and, although we tried to get his to taste it, he is definitely not a fan of sugar!

Frisbee Fun

April 18, 2012

Billy, Mommy and I were able to snag a few minutes outside at the end of his session for a little frisbee fun!!

Even though Billy was a bit distracted by all the new smells on my land, once Mommy started throwing his frisbee, he was focused like a laser!

Not Camera Shy

April 17, 2012

Billy was the perfect, four legged model! After giving the studio a thorough once over, checking me out, sniffing every corner and investigating all smells, he settled right in and got comfortable.

When I brought out the camera and moved him into position, he was ready to go! Sitting, laying, eyes right at the camera. It was almost more challenging getting profile images of him, because he wouldn’t look away from the camera! Of course, that just meant I was able to keep photographing him, at least until he tired of me and started looking out the window and up at Mom!

Billy has a very sweet demeanor and you can tell his Mommy is his world…and I’m pretty sure Billy is his Mommy’s world!

One of a Kind

April 16, 2012

Although I have photographed Grant before, it was during a family session a few years ago, so I didn’t have a chance to really talk one on one with him. This time it was just he and I in the studio, and I had a blast getting to know him!

Grant is into supernatural books, tv shows and movies. He loves comic books and can probably answer any question you ask. He’s even started writing his own supernatural book! (When he gets published…I’ll be able to say I knew him when!)

We talked about the future and what he has planned for next steps. He has some big changes coming his way in the near future…from ROTC to becoming a Wildcat!

He was up for doing anything I asked, and even suggested a few poses and concepts himself! It’s fun to collaborate and truly make the senior session unique and one of a kind.

No Pause Button

April 12, 2012

This describes Maddox perfectly! He started walking at nine months, so now at a year old, he is a master walker. For that matter, he has mastered running and even making tight turns. Basically if he wants to get somewhere, he can! Mommy definitely worked up a sweat chasing him around the studio!

Despite the constant blur coming off Maddox, we were able to distract him and keeping him entertained enough to capture some fun and funny expressions!
