Making Me Work

January 11, 2012

How fun that my very first session of the new year was our new nephew, Jamie. Pete’s sister and husband had a baby boy right after Christmas and I was honored to be one of his first adventures.

Unfortunately, Jamie didn’t get the memo that he was supposed to take it easy on me. It took us almost an hour and a half, after making him naked, to get him fed and asleep. Then, even once he was asleep, he hated having his hands and feet messed with. I would have him in a perfect position, but his hands would be in front of his face. If I tried to move them, he would resist with all his newborn strength, ultimately startling him out of position.

Jamie didn’t realize that he was dealing with a photographer that doesn’t give up easily. So, we’d try again and again if need be. In the end, he eventually submitted and let us twist and turn him lots of different directions, resulting in many of adorable images!

Check Out Those Cheeks!

January 10, 2012

Newborn babies always amaze me! They all have their own unique features. Some have chubby features and some have skinny features. Some have round faces, some have oval faces. Some are hairy, some are hairless. Some have fair skin that turns red when they cry and some have dark skin that even models would envy. Some have big hands and some have little hands. Even though they’re all only a few days old, each newborn that walks in the door brings their own uniqueness!

Zeiva brought in the round cheeks, the chubby thighs, the full head of crazy hair, short little eyelashes, hands and feet that she hated having messed with, and the best part, an easy going laid back disposition!

Busy Baby

December 20, 2011

Miss Elisabeth may have only been eight days old when I photographed her, but she’s already trying to hold her head up like a three month old. She’s a bit of a bobble head. Of course, she’s still working on making an eye connection, but she certainly is trying.

Add in her constant squirming and her awesome kicks, that I know she spent time in the womb perfecting, and I think this little lady is going to be mover and a shaker.

Watch out big brother…here comes little sister!

Being Held

November 29, 2011

As long as Mila was being held and cuddled she was happy as could be. Put her down on her own and she definitely shared with us her dislike for that position.

She wasn’t particular about who was holding her, as long as that someone was a warm body and was snuggling her close. She would grunt her appreciation and make cute faces. She even let us move her around from back, to belly to upright to laying down, she was flexible.

Until we tried to lay her in the bean bag. Then she protested! She wanted nothing to do with being on her own, so being held is what she got!

Eyebrows?

September 22, 2011

Poor little Hudson at six days old, didn’t have much in the eyebrow department. The question is out, does this mean he’ll have red hair like big sister, Lola, or is the hint of blonde hair at the nape of his neck indicative of a future tow-head? It will be fun to see what grows in!

In the meantime, he’s rocking the minimal hair look…bald and beautiful! Hudson had just the right of squishiness and rolls, while still being moldable and movable! With the exception of being a little jumpy and a few screams…just to remind us that he was still in charge…he was the perfect little model!

Even when we added sister, Lola, he just laid still and let her touch him and kiss him, and love all over him!

It’s A Boy!

July 25, 2011

Mommy and Daddy didn’t know what they were having when William made his appearance. First, out came that beautiful head of hair, with it’s very own highlights followed by the evidence that he was a boy!

Oh, my goodness, is he a boy! He is full of grunts, burps and funny noises! They’re all, of course, absolutely adorable, because they’re very tiny and somewhat petite…but they’re also very much all boy!

Then there’s his self made poses; quite provocative and not at all modest! I did not capture any of those, despite the fact that he insisted on striking them frequently!

I think this cutie pie is going to have many ladies wrapped around his finger!

Opinionated!

June 30, 2011

At just five days old, Miss Allison may be the laid back third baby, but she’s a bit opinionated about how you hold her, and if you’re messing with her, she’s going to let you know what she thinks!

She fought us for quite awhile, refusing to just give in and let us pose her…but eventually, there came a point where she threw up her hands and said, “Okay, do what you want!”

It’s a good thing we moved quickly! Shortly after, she decided she was hungry again, and from that point on, she was wide awake, making lots of funny faces!

Baby Sister

April 27, 2011

Big Sister Morgan is still checking out Baby Sister Alexandra. She knows where the baby is, and she’s definitely interested in what the baby is doing. She’s also very into kissing her and touching her, which gives her the chance to learn the word gentle! She pats the baby and touches the baby, but her hand just has a lot of force behind it. She’s not trying to be hard; she’s just 18 months old and is still working it out!

The good news is that baby sister seems to be going with the flow! With an active big sister and a puppy dog at home, Alexandra is learning to be patient and easy going!

She gave us a little challenge to start off her session, but after filling up her belly, and a little cuddling on Mommy’s chest, she drifted off to sleep, ready for some camera action!

Teeny, Tiny

April 12, 2011

At a birth weight of 5 lbs 9 ounces and three and a half weeks early, Henry is a teeny, tiny little man! For his weight and his small size, he actually seems pretty long, but of course that just makes his legs and arms look even skinner!

He was a rock star at his very first portrait session! We could not have asked for better cooperation. He had a few squirmy moments, and tried to put his hand in front of his face more than once, but those times were so few and far between!

I just love the images where Mommy & Daddy are holding him! It just captures his teeny, tiny size so well. For years to come, as he grows and changes, Mommy & Daddy will never forget how he started out as this skinny, little man!

Laid Back Little Man

April 5, 2011

When you’re the third baby boy in the family, you don’t have much of a choice, but to be a laid back, go with the flow, little man!

Blake has two older brothers who just adore him! Though, their idea of fun did not really include getting photos taken. It’s hard to be patient and quiet when you’re almost three and six years old and when all you really want to do is go outside and run. But Carter and Jack pulled through and gave us a few moments of calm and sweet with Baby Blake!

Of course, Blake worked the camera! Sweet, squishy, open mouth, serious mouth, he knows how to pull you in and make you just want to love on him!
