Smiles, Ears & Tongues

September 24, 2013

Stedman and Lilly only have eyes for their Momma! I think if Lilly could spend her entire day sitting in her Mom’s arms, in her book, that would be the perfect day! And Stedman, he just wants to be close by. He’s willing to let Lilly have the sweet spot, as long as he’s in the vicinity.

Getting them out of Mom’s arms and ready to pose for the camera was the challenge…but we worked through it and captured smiles, perky ears and head tilts!

The Kiss Machine

August 16, 2013

I spent a morning with Baxter…which boiled down to kisses, more kisses, smiles, curious eyes, kisses and more kisses! If your head is anywhere near Baxter’s level prepare, to be kissed!

He is such a loving guy! Baxter walked in the door, checked out the surroundings, sniffed me over and must have decided that he approved, because out came that tongue and I received my first Baxter kisses.

Baxter and his Mommy have a very special bond, and it’s easy to see. She loves him dearly and Baxter only has eyes for her!

Miss Pebs Turns Seven

May 30, 2013

That’s right, today is Pebbles’ birthday! I’m sure she’s going to make sure that everyone treats her like the Princess that she is!

Pebbles is our little diva! She likes what she likes, and she likes it a certain way. There’s no deviating from the Pebbles way, and we love her for it!

Pebbles is a people lover! Give her a person (especially a guy), and she’ll turn those big eyes on them, wag her tail slightly and before they even know it they’ve leaned down to pet her and show her attention.

If we let her, she would be the first to greet anyone who came to the door…and her greeting would be a complete lick down! She loves to give puppy kisses, and if you’re showing bare leg, be prepared for the Pebbles lick attack. Small children are the best, because they’re usually right at her level and, Pebs says, their faces can always use an extra cleaning!

Pebbles is the first to crawl up in our laps, or snuggle up close for some loving. She’s not only great at accepting loving, but she’s great at giving it too! Those puppy kisses, they’re available upon request!

Pebbles is an awesome big sister to her crazy little brother, Bruiser. We weren’t quite sure how it would work when we brought him home, because we were messing with the Pebbles way…but he worked his magic and has found a place in her heart. At least once a day, Pebbles and Bruiser play tag, running around the furniture, doing spins and rolls, and running until they’re both panting like crazy.

If you ask Pebbles, she would probably tell you that her best skill is her guard dog skills! She’s the first one to let us know that someone has pulled into the driveway. She’s the first one at the door to scare off those kitty cats. All nine pounds of her little, white, fluffy body are ready to attack at a moment’s notice. Although, if it’s a person, that attack would be in the form of kisses!

We couldn’t imagine our family without the antics of Princess Pebbles…she’s our girl!

The Itty Bitty Toby

May 29, 2013

It’s hard to really tell, because there’s nothing to give you perspective in these photos. I should have photographed a teddy bear or something next to Toby, but instead you’ll just have to trust me.

Toby is teeny, tiny! I met him when he was twelve weeks old. I expected him to be small, but he is SMALL! My somewhat freshly mowed grass was almost too tall for the little guy!

Toby has three older, two-legged siblings who think he’s pretty cool, but from what I saw, his biggest fan is his new Mommy! She’s in love…and so is Toby!

Welcome to the family, Toby!

Happy Boy

May 23, 2013

Thanks to this crazy Spring weather, it took us many reschedules to finally get a non-rainy, sunshiny day to photograph Frisco. But it was worth the wait…green grass, bright sun, a nice bit of a breeze, but cool Spring temperatures that kept Frisco from overheating. It made for for the perfect setting!

From the minute Frisco pulled in the drive, he was smiling ear to ear! He’s definitely the apple in his Daddy’s eye, and Daddy is definitely “the man” as far as Frisco is concerned. Frisco might wander a little, or start to investigate, but he never ventured too far from Dad. All Dad had to do was talk to Frisco, and he would just bust out a great grin, pop his ears and stare right at him.

Frisco is a squeaker nut! When he hears a squeaker, he comes running. His goal in life is remove the squeaker from every toy he finds. So getting a few of Frisco and his favorite squeaker toys was a must!

Happy Heart Day!

February 14, 2013

Pebbles, Joey and Bruiser are sending lots of puppy kisses your way today! Make sure you pucker up for cold noses and wet tongues! Hope your day is full of lots of hugs, kisses and love!

My Golden Boy

February 12, 2013

Yep, my Little Mister, Joey, turns twelve years old today on the twelfth of February…his golden birthday!

Although, after working on his images I think we should call it his grey birthday! You’d never guess that this little man started out with black and white spots of fur. The white quickly disappeared after a few haircuts, and was replaced by different shades of black and grey, but over the years the black has faded and now he’s just my disguised grey haired little man!

Joey is my side kick, my right hand man! He’s always close by, keeping me in line, snuggling in bed with me, making sure I remember that he sits really well and therefore deserves a treat (or two).

He doesn’t like to be left at home, and it breaks my heart every time I have to leave him. But he never holds it against me. He’s always ready to greet me with an open mouth smile, followed by a quick trip to the toy box to return carrying a favorite toy. It’s his greeting…a toy and a tail wag!

Joey’s a frequent napper, and his favorite place to nap is in my office, right at my feet. He has multiple beds to choose from, but his favorite is a small green one. He frequently hangs out of it, because he insists on stretching out, when the bed was really made for him to curl up in a ball. If he’s not in his bed, he is usually right at my feet, risking the chance that I’ll run over his tail with my chair wheels!

Thanks to Joey’s amazing ability to charm the camera and me…another birthday session is in the books!

We’ll definitely be celebrating Joey’s Golden Birthday in style tonight! I’m seeing lots of cuddling, and some extra treats in his future for sure!

Outside We Went

February 6, 2013

Thirteen year old Tilly couldn’t come to me, so I had to go to her. It was a pretty chilly day, with some snow on the ground, so my plan was to photograph her in the house. The problem was that the only area of the house that had enough light was the dining room and Tilly wasn’t comfortable coming into that room.

But, she was comfortable being outside…so outside was where we went! Outside turned out to be the perfect solution. Tilly’s black fur next to the white snow with just a hint of sunlight bouncing off the snow was just beautiful!

It was obvious that, in her younger years, Tilly must have loved being outside…playing fetch, running, digging, just enjoying the feel of the outdoors! We found a toy of Tilly’s, which made her very excited! For a short while, I saw Tilly’s puppy face. The pure joy of excitement, and the anticipation of having that toy thrown so she could chase it. Unfortunately, her hips and joints are showing their age and running on slick snow covered grass was not a good idea. Just seeing the excitement pass across her face was definitely an insight into what her puppy years had been like.

Capturing her distinguished face, with her grey wisps of hair, her puppy smile and her inquisitive face was worth every chilly moment of that snow covered day!

Buddies for Life

February 4, 2013

At just twelve weeks old, brothers Chase and Rascal still have some growing to do! Currently, Rascal is about half the size of Chase. It will be interesting to see what they look like when they’re fully grown.

Now don’t let their size throw you off…Rascal may be little but he is mighty! He wasn’t named Rascal for no reason! He’s quick, vocal and quite the busy body. He wanted to be anywhere but where we wanted him. Squeak a toy, he’ll come running. Sit, maybe for a split second, but then he’s got things to check out and explore.

Chase, on the other hand, being the bigger pup, you would think makes the rules. Nah, he’s laid back, easy going and, best of all, extremely treat motivated. He has the sit-for-a-treat thing down like a pro! More than once, Rascal would jump right on top of Chase to get the treat, but it would not even phase Chase…he just kept on sitting! Making noises, or funny sounds and he would twist his head back and forth.

Individual photos of Rascal proved to be the most challenging part of the entire session! Any time we had the treats out Chase would be right there. When we actually had Rascal hold still for a second, here came Chase putting his body right in the way! If we held Chase out of the photos, so that we could focus on Rascal, Rascal went crazy. He wanted to be where his brother was, and nothing was going to stop him from getting to Chase!

These two are definitely buddies! I expect they are going to master the art of getting each other in trouble!!

Little Buddy

January 4, 2013

That’s one of my most common nicknames for Bruiser. I call him Buddy or my Little Buddy. I even think that sometimes he responds to the name Buddy more than he responds to the name Bruiser. The funny thing is that both names describe him perfectly!

I would have never guessed that the little two pound, skinny, thin haired puppy we brought home would turn in to a nine pound ball of fur, but that’s exactly what happened. He uses that nine pound body like a wrecking ball, pouncing on his older siblings, encouraging them to play with him. He is relentless…constantly egging them on, trying to irritate them, with nonstop pestering until they chase him or wrestle with him. He’s definitely a Bruiser!

On the other hand, if you call him, he’s quick to come, and most of the time he doesn’t need to be called because he’s already hanging out nearby. If you want a hug or kiss he’s happy to oblige…and he is always quick to give a good tail wag, just to brighten up your day!

He’s quite the comedian, always with a look of mischief or a question on his face. He definitely has the “Who me?” look down!

My Little Buddy turns two years old today, and I can barely remember what life was like before he entered our family, but I know it definitely wasn’t as entertaining!
