A Work of Art

February 23, 2011

Have you been consistently capturing images of your children over the years as they grow and change? Has your collection of portraits, collages and art work filled your walls and become a shrine to your children? I want to take a moment to say, “I love you!”

I completely believe in capturing your children every year in photos. When you look back at them over the years, you will never believe how much they actually changed. It’s hard for you to see, because you see them every day and the changes are small, but those small changes quickly add up. Watch as your babies grow into toddlers, your toddlers grow into little people, your little people grow into sassy preteens, your preteens grow into know it all teens and your teens, they grow into adults, right before our very eyes!

An idea for displaying your portraits with limited wall space is to create a collection that can be rotated and changed out. Select a favorite wall, measure it and bring the specifications to me, we will work together to figure out a combination that will look perfect on your wall.

We can select different sizes while mixing and matching from different sessions. The initial investment will include the frames for each portrait, but going forward, you can just bring the frames back to me and I will switch out the portraits. Making your wall a fun, creative, always changing work of art!

Storing Your Portraits

December 30, 2010

How do you store your portraits? I know we wish we could have all of our 5x7s and 8x10s out on display forever. But, as our children get older, and the number of portraits we have grows, the small frames can become more like clutter and less like art.

How many of you are guilty of placing the new photo in the front of the frame, and leaving the old one in the frame behind the new one? You may not be willing to admit it, but I know there are many of you out there that do just that! You may not realize it, but this is the worst thing you can do to store your portraits. If any humidity or moisture gets into the frame, or underneath the glass, there is a very good chance that all of the photos in that frame can end up sticking together, and therefore ruining them all.

With the crazy humidity we have Kansas City, you would not believe how easily this can happen. One of my clients had an 8×10 from every session we had ever done in one frame. Still, to this day, we have no idea what happened, but somehow moisture got in the frame. The first photo stuck to the glass, and every photo behind that one stuck to the one in front of it. As you can imagine, they were quite distraught. Just like that, the record of their child’s first months and years were gone. Fortunately, we were able to replace each photograph, and now they are all properly displayed in one of our Keepsake Albums!

Our Keepsake Albums are perfect for storing Classic Portraits and our Memory Boxes are perfect for storing Custom Portraits. Visit our online Product Catalog to learn more about these products, and order yours today! Don’t leave those portraits stacked up in the same frame one more day!

The Quote

December 28, 2010

Our Quote Albums have to be one of my new favorite products! They’re just so in the moment and full of personality!

From what I hear, Gillian was super excited to see her album and has been showing it off to everyone she knows. Not only is it a hit right now, but I’m sure that, in years to come, she’s going to get great entertainment looking back at her candid, honest answers.

I would imagine that Mommy and Daddy will get just as much enjoyment out of it, both now and down the road! What a perfect snapshot of life as it is today!

From the Mouths of Babes

August 26, 2010

In my opinion, one of the most important goals of my photography is capturing personality! That is part of why I love close-up images. I am drawn in by the eyes and the expressions! Capturing who we are during that period of life and documenting it forever…to me there is nothing better!

With our new album, The Quote, I’m taking it one step further!

One of my favorite aspects of children is their honesty and their inability to mislead or misdirect. Of course, sometimes they do not necessarily say the nicest things…like pointing out those red dots on my face…but they are not being harsh, they are just being honest.

During each session, I’m always interacting with my kiddos to bring out those personalities and those honest reactions and expressions. I frequently ask lots of questions and am always amazed and entertained by the answers they provide.

What a perfect opportunity for an album! Showing off their personality through their expressions and photographs, it also tells us their thoughts, their dreams and their hopes!

I think The Quote album will be perfect for kiddos between the ages of six and ten. If this album is something you might be interested in, be sure and let me know before the session. That way I can make sure I ask all the right questions and write down all their adorable answers!

Name Art News

June 4, 2010

I’m so excited! Our new Name Art product has been a huge hit! I’ve already created quite a few unique Name Art pieces for some personalized bedroom art!

I have heard, from a few clients, some concern over how many panels they would need to order to fit their child’s name. I want to put that concern to rest. We can easily fit more than one letter on a panel!

So, no worries! It’s doesn’t matter how long your kiddos name is, we can make it work!

Set of Three

March 17, 2010

I love doing things in threes! It gives you that one main, central focus and then two additional complimentary pieces.

Our new Designer Triptych is made up of three Designer Canvas Wraps in my favorite wide, horizontal shape. They can be hung vertically on a narrow vertical wall or horizontal across the top of a door or window frame, a bed, crib or even above a kitchen table. They are the perfect size, just right for viewing easily from across the room.

Gift Portraits

March 15, 2010

What is a Gift Portrait? It is any portrait 8×10 or smaller.

Why is it called a Gift Portrait? Because it is the perfect size for gifts!

Portraits 8×10 and smaller are the perfect size to display on table tops, bookshelves, work desks, etc. Unless hung in a collection, they are really not the right size for hanging on a wall. Given their size and desktop/bookshelf display options, they make great gifts for grandparents, godparents, aunts and uncles.

With the addition of our newest Gift Portrait product, we now offer three different types of Gift Portraits. Depending on your needs, you can decide the portrait type that works best for you.

The Designer Portrait is available with either a custom frame of your choice or as a canvas wrap. Each portrait includes a high quality designer easel for display on your desk or table top.

The Custom Portrait is mounted on heavy artist board with a protective lacquer for increased durability and includes a premium black wooden display stand.

The Classic Portrait is printed on high quality photographic paper.

For Your Walls

March 11, 2010

Since the first of the year, we’ve been working hard creating some new products. I am very excited to share them with you! I absolutely love how they came out!

Today’s Reveal is our Name Art!

The perfect artwork for your child’s room! There are lots of places in their room where your Name Art might hang. Anywhere from that big blank wall, to above baby’s crib or the new toddler bed. Do you have tall walls? It’s perfect for above the closet door or window.

What a great self esteem builder! Every morning your child wakes up and sees their name in big letters, combined with beautiful images of themselves full of personality and individualism!

Your Name Art can be created with 3 or 4 pieces, and each piece can have any number of letters to spell out your child’s name.

That’s all for today! Check back to the blog over the next few weeks, there is more to come!

For Your Wall

November 12, 2009

Our framed and matted collections are some of our most popular items! They’re a great way to show personalities, the love of a family, the adorable itty bitty parts of a newborn or even just the different expressions of a high school senior.

Our newest addition is the Quad! The images are 6×8, which is a great viewing size. However, the overall piece is not huge, ensuring it can hang with other pieces or even by itself on a smaller wall.

It’s a must have for your next session!
