All Smiles

December 18, 2013

It took some extra work, a lollipop bribe, silly jokes and a goofy Daddy, but we pulled smiles and/or perky ears out off all four kiddos of the H family!

Little four legged Bella and big brother Aiden are total go with the flow kids! They work those eyes and those expressions that just melt your heart!

Four year old Morgan has come a long way since the first time I met her. She’s gone from no smiles to super cheese! Now the challenge is calming down the super cheese for a natural smile!

Two and a half year old Alex is still testing her limits! Once we had her relaxed, laughing and smiling she has the best twinkle in her eyes…it just takes some extra work to get that…but it’s all worth it!

Oh the Challenges

When photographing a group of growing siblings, there is never a dull moment…every year is sure to bring a different surprise!

This year, our surprise was a completely uncooperative, quite moody, little 18 month old named Alex! In the past, we’ve had stubborn, no smile Morgan, or every photo has a tongue sticking out Morgan, or even refuses to look at the camera Alex, and last but not least growing up forced smile Aidan. It’s always entertaining!

As they grow older, they go through different stages and you just never know what that stage will bring. For Alex, it comes down to she wants to do what she wants to when she wants to do it and how she wants to do it. This means we must bend to her will, or pay the price! In the end, we were still able to capture a few of Alex’s adorable smiles!

Our no smile Morgan was no more…smiley, happy and oh so cooperative! Of course, we can’t forget our awesome rock star, Aidan…such a big helper and always happy to flash a grin!

Every Which Direction

When you take a crawling seven month old, a two year old with a bit of an independent streak and a second grader, put them all in the same room, the result can be a bit chaotic!

Aidan, our second grader, was a huge helper! He was there to help encourage his little sisters to cooperate. He was right in the mix of it trying to get them to smile. When I asked him to do something, he did it right away. He was definitely the rock star of the session!

Morgan is two, and wants to do what she wants to do. At the beginning of the session, she would follow along with whatever big brother was doing, but it didn’t take her long to decide that she wanted to do her own thing. Whether that was to walk right in front of the camera while I was photographing her little sister, or to turn her back to us while I was photographing her.

Baby Sister, Alex, was having a rough morning. Based on the eye rubs and the finger sucking, I’m guessing she was tired and ready for a nap. We took multiple breaks to fill her belly with some milk and then pushed ahead. Thanks to Daddy and Aiden, we were able to coax some good smiles out of her!
