Making It Work

August 14, 2012

My session with Cierra and Sydney was full of laughs, smiles, talk of boogers and stinky feet and lots of fun!

Sydney started the session off with her forced fake smile, which forced me to bring out the big guns! There’s nothing better than talking about boogers and stinky feet to get rid of fake, forced smiles! Before long, Sydney couldn’t do anything but laugh and smile…real laughs followed by real smiles!

For Cierra, it was the serious expressions that she couldn’t pull off. She’d try so hard, but it would look like she was trying. We figured out that, if she looked away and then quickly turned her head towards me, she could hold the serious expression long enough for me to capture a few images, before she’d bust out with the big smile again!

All in all, it was a fun and silly session…I couldn’t have asked for anything more!

I think every kid has the exact same answer to the question, “What is your favorite thing about school?” Cierra’s answer was like many answers I’ve heard in the past…recess.

Her favorite thing to do at recess…play Noodle Tag. They all take foam Noodles and then chase each other. If you get tagged then you have to freeze, in a wide, legs spread stance, until someone crawls between your legs.

Doesn’t it always make you wonder, who comes up with these crazy rules? You know we all did weird games when we were their age, as well, and we certainly didn’t think they were bizarre at the time, but now we’d probably laugh at half the games we played!

For Your Wall

November 12, 2009

Our framed and matted collections are some of our most popular items! They’re a great way to show personalities, the love of a family, the adorable itty bitty parts of a newborn or even just the different expressions of a high school senior.

Our newest addition is the Quad! The images are 6×8, which is a great viewing size. However, the overall piece is not huge, ensuring it can hang with other pieces or even by itself on a smaller wall.

It’s a must have for your next session!

All About the Clothes

September 30, 2009

Now that Cierra is in first grade, and turning seven, she is much more involved and opinionated about selecting her portrait session outfits. Sometimes that can result in very interesting combinations, but I thought Cierra did a fabulous job! It was fun to see what caught Cierra’s eye and stood out to her.

I love the bright colors; they totally match Cierra’s personality! Spunky and sassy! Not to mention, all the fun accessories make her look very model-like. Combine that with her desire to strike poses and she’s a natural!

High Energy!

July 6, 2009

I knew, from her three year session, that Sydney had high energy…but I really experienced it when we did their family session! Sydney never stopped moving! Combine older sister, Cierra, and Sydney together and you’re in for trouble. They were jumping on each other, knocking each other over, and if Cierra did it, Sydney would copy. It was craziness!

Starting Kindergarten

September 12, 2008

Cierra came in for her portrait session the day before her first day of Kindergarten. Which is SO crazy for me to think of! The very first time I photographed Cierra she was 21 months old. She was such a cute little squirt, now she’s growing into a beautiful young lady! It is such an honor to be able to document these monumental changes and moments in life, but boy does it make me feel old!

This year, Cierra’s kitty, Lilly, got to be part of the session, and we documented Cierra with her violin. She’s been taking lessons for about 6 months, and I was very impressed by the songs she played for me, completely by memory.

Another Year, Another Challenge!

August 31, 2007

As mom so succinctly summed up – another year just means a different challenge. This is so true! Though each challenge is what makes each age so much fun, there is always something new to adapt to! Whether, it’s the newborn age where they need to eat, poop and pee, or the one year age where they are a blur because they’re running away, or two when they do the exact opposite of what you want them to do!

Cierra is welcoming the age of five with open arms! And, moving arms, and legs and stories to tell! Fidgety is a great word to describe being five. You just have so much energy, that holding still makes your burst! Cierra danced, and jumped and turned in circles, and leaned – there was no slowing her down. Even her stories were fast paced, and full of details and excitement!

Though that doesn’t mean we weren’t able to capture some adorable images of the beautiful Cierra!
