From Serious to Giggles

October 24, 2013

Since I have been photographing Sophia and Dominic since they were each in their Mommy’s belly, they have some experience in front of the camera…and they know how to work it!

From cool dude Dominic, in his shades and hat, to the sweet giggles that come out of him when we talk about boogers and stinky feet. Both sides are just adorable and perfect for the camera!

Add to that Sophia’s ability to work everything from sassy to sweet to serious, and you have a session full of variety, giggles and laughs!

Scrunchy Giggles

October 11, 2012

If there’s one thing Sophia and Dominic do well, it’s flash the scrunchy nose, full face giggles and laughs! I think it was around the age of six months that we started to see this smile from both of them, and years later they still haven’t lost it!

Although they can both pull off the serious expressions with those big blue eyes, our sessions tend to include more giggles, laughs and silly faces.

If you get Dominic laughing really hard, out comes this deep almost evil villain laugh. It is very funny to hear such an evil laugh come from such a sweet little guy!

When Sophia laughs really hard, she squints her eyes so tight they disappear. I often wonder if she ever feels tears pricking the back of her eyelids…as tight as she squeezes those eyes together, I would think tears for sure would accompany those crazy giggles!

Similar But Unique

October 28, 2011

This brother and sister pair have always been full of energy, and at four and seven years old, not much has changed! The major changes are in their growing personalities.

Sophia has always been the performer, the star of the show. Now that she’s actually doing some acting and singing in performances, her dramatic and sassy ways have waned a little. Not to say that she doesn’t still work the sassy face or the pouty face when need be, or make the uber scrunchy nose smile on command, but one on one, we had a nice conversation and a relaxed session together.

Dominic still has his boy energy, but he also has a super sweet, affectionate side. While one second he can be jumping, rolling and dancing, the next second he has stopped all moving to give you a quick kiss or a sweet smile. Then, the next second, he’s using typical boy words like stinky and poopy, followed by an affectionate look with his big, blue eyes. If he doesn’t have the girls following him around, I will be shocked!

A Bed Head Success!

April 17, 2011

Our Bed Head Kids event turned out to be a perfect Sunday! The temperatures were nice and, even though there was a period of grey skies and some crazy wind, everyone made it into the studio safe, sound and dry!

We had a variety of participants…including a rock star, a soccer player, a monkey, a princess, and a even a fireman, just to name a few. Everyone was dressed in their best, with the necessary accessories, and even a little hair color dye!

It was fun to let them all be loose and goofy! I got roared at 100 times. I danced like a monkey. But best of all, I had fun! There were tons of laughs, smiles and fun kid poses!

I hope these images put smiles on your faces!

High Energy

November 10, 2010

This high energy brother/sister duo gave me a run for my money! Whether it was individuals or siblings together, I had to keep the chatter and the high energy excitement going!

At six years old, Sophia does well at following directions, but she just has so much energy, that she can not help herself! Before you know it, she’s singing and dancing, striking poses and laughing!

Dominic is happiest when he’s on the move, and not limited to one location. But, if you can get him interested in something, you can get a great back and forth exchange going! What did I get him interested in? Gross stuff like boogers! Isn’t that what every young boy is into!?!

I definitely needed a nap after keeping up with these two!

Mood Swings

November 23, 2009

Dominic cracks me up! Actually, I think it’s just the fact that he’s two, but boy does he have mood swings. One minute, he was standing there smiling, cracking up and entertaining us. The next minute, he’s done! He walks off the “set”, puts on his pouty lips and just stares at us – giving us a challenge me glare! Then he’d snap out of it and be ready to perform again. What a hoot!

Boys Will Be Boys

June 17, 2009

Thank goodness Dominic is slowed down a little bit by his height! He wasn’t quite able to climb on my stool or chair by himself.

Of course, once we helped him up there, he had not a care in the world about falling off or tumbling over! He actually stood up in the chair and started bouncing! Not to worry, daddy was close by, ready to catch! That certainly didn’t stop me from being nervous. He was just throwing himself around, sitting on the edge of the chair, turning in circles on the stool, dancing on the step stool, completely unaware that the edge was right there and he was inches away from falling.

In line with his crazy boy shenanigans, the more dangerous he was, the more he smiled!

Lots of Looks

November 30, 2008

Dominic is a pretty laid back little guy. He's very interested in checking everything out and has the ability to really focus on something. So even though daddy and I were acting like fools, he was content to ignore us and focus on other things. Every once in a while he would glance up and cast a look our way.

The funny thing is, he has a ton of different looks. I'm sure to him each look means something completely different. To me, they are just cute baby expressions!

Family Portraits

November 6, 2008

This time of year is always very popular for Family portraits! They make great holiday gifts and fabulous holiday cards. A lot of times, we'll try to go outside. Other times, in-studio makes for awesome images, too!

This fall, we have been fairly lucky with the weather. Almost every outdoor session that I had planned worked out perfectly, which is not usually the case. Especially with the weird weather year we've been having.

Due to the popularity of this time of year, my schedule gets booked up quickly. It's never too early to start thinking about next year! If you are interested in having a family session next fall, drop me an email or give me a call. I will put you on my calendar, and when I start scheduling for next fall (probably in late spring/early summer) I'll give you a call.

Take 2

September 30, 2008

Every once in a while, we have to do a take 2 with a session. Usually it turns out that the baby isn’t feeling so well, or they are getting teeth, or sometimes they are just having a bad day. It doesn’t happen very often, but sometimes it happens. My rule is that the kiddo runs the show, so if they are not ready or up for performing, then we take a break and try again.

For Dominic, it was a little bit of everything. He hadn’t been feeling well, and had been spending a lot of time cuddling with mommy. So the idea of mommy putting him down for his session was not well received. He spent the majority of the time crying and wanting mommy. Mommy couldn’t get further than a few inches away without a major meltdown. I could see that we were not going to be getting anywhere, so we rescheduled…with a new plan. The daddy plan!

We made arrangements for daddy and big sister to bring Dominic out for his session. Though he was still a little tentative about being left, he must have been feeling much better, because he turned on the charm!

When Dominic gets really excited, he balls up his fists and shakes them around. One of my favorite moves is when he sticks out his arm, holding his fist tight, like he’s going to give you a fist bump. I definitely got to capture his personality the second time around!
