They Just Keep Getting Older

July 15, 2013

And older and older! I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but when the kiddos that I’ve been photographing for years walk in the door, and they’re as tall as me, it boggles my mind!

The very first time I photographed Madison, Kennedy and Jackson they were two and a half years old and six months old. Now they are entering seventh and fifth grade! Madison is the exact same height as me, and I had to stand on a stool to photograph her!

I used to squat down on the floor to give them hugs. Now I just stand up straight! These little tiny people aren’t little tiny people anymore! They’re growing into beautiful, young adults!

The good news is that we can still be silly and goofy together, and I can still make them smile and laugh!

Always Changing

May 18, 2012

I have been photographing these kiddos at least once a year for the last nine years, and wow have they changed over those nine years!

- I’ve seen the baby teeth come and go.

- I’ve listened as they’ve learned to talk, answer questions and even weave stories – some true and some not so true!

- I’ve seen short hair and long hair and even no hair!

- I’ve seen growth spurts…I’m positive by this time next year, Madison will officially be taller than me! (Either they are growing or I’m shrinking!)

- I’ve watched as their hobbies, likes and dislikes have matured.

- I’ve seen personalities develop…and even got a peek at some sassiness along the way!

Every year I am amazed by how much they have changed, both physically, emotionally and mentally! Those little babies who wouldn’t listen to a word I said, now actually follow directions – sometimes! Those sweet little kids that loved to give hugs, now have to be bribed for good bye hugs!

Some of those changes are great and some of those changes are sad, but we all experience them and they make us who we are today!

I can’t wait to see what changes these three have in store for me next year!

The Teeth Change!

April 4, 2011

I absolutely love the losing teeth stage! I just find it so adorable. Every kiddo starts with these teeny tiny teeth that are no bigger than your fingernail. Teeth that seemed so big when they were babies, but now barely fill up their mouth. Those teeth come out and we’re left with these great gappy holes! Then the gappy holes are replaced again by teeth that just seem way to big for those tiny smiles!

Kennedy is right in the middle of the process! Some gappy holes, some baby teeth and some big teeth! I just love it!

The Poser

September 17, 2010

It doesn’t matter how old Kennedy gets, the one thing that has remained the same is her love of posing for the camera. The hand on the hip, hip popped out, with a little bit of attitude, has always been her favorite pose…and it still is. I don’t even have to coach her, she just stands in front of me and strikes the pose! Now, getting her to relax and not be so posey, that’s the real challenge! Luckily, she likes to talk. Once I get her talking, I can get her laughing, making her relax in to a more natural expression and pose.

Oh, and I just heard that Kennedy has lost her first tooth, quickly followed by her second tooth. So that means this will officially be her last session with teeny, tiny baby teeth!

Time Flies!

July 16, 2009

There is nothing like photographing these two cuties, that reminds me of how fast time flies and how old I am becoming! The first time I photographed these two, they were just six months old. This May, they graduated from Kindergarten and turned six years old!

Wow! That’s all I can say. I can remember just like yesterday, when they were just little bitty peanuts. Now, they’re little bitty people, full of personality, big hearts and sass!

6 Month Cuties!

Now 6 Year Old Cuties!

Lake Weekend

June 22, 2009

I just realized that I never shared my lake weekend photos with you! A couple of weekends ago, Pete, Joey, Pebbles and I headed to Pomme de Terre Lake in Missouri. Our friends have a lake house that they visit at least a couple of weekends a month throughout the summer.

This was just the second time we’ve been able to join them. Weekends are not the easiest time for me to get away, especially since I’m usually working on Saturdays.

What an awesome weekend it was! The temperatures were perfect. The sun was bright and warm. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend!

I took my new lens (the fisheye) with me and had some fun! I don’t get to do that very often, which makes it even more fun to play!

Bed Head Kids!

April 2, 2009

You are invited to join us for our Bed Head Kids event on Sunday, April 19th!

Does your kiddo have a favorite outfit that they would wear everyday if you let them? Maybe they love to live in their princess dress or their batman costume? Would your squirt love to pick out an outfit that would make the “worst dressed” list?

These are the moments that we will want to remember! The moments that make us smile and laugh. Moments that will be gone before we know it.

All sessions are by appointment only. Limited times are available, so contact us today!

The Greatest Show On Earth!

September 15, 2008

On Sunday, Pete and I accompanied our friends Kimberly, Shawn, Madison, Kennedy & Jackson to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus. It has been forever since I have been to a kids circus. A few months ago we went to the Cirque du Soleil show. It was so much fun, that when I saw the Ringling circus was coming to town, it was a must see!

This was the first time the kids had ever been to a circus, which made for a great experience. It’s always amazing to see things through the eyes of a child. The laughter, amazement and joy was definitely contagious!

Sleepover Saturday!

July 16, 2008

This past weekend Pete and I entertained three kiddos overnight at our house! Crazy, I know!

Our good friends, Kimberly and Shawn, needed someone to watch their kids for a late night out. We bravely agreed! Luckily, we know Maddie, Jackson and Kennedy quite well, and are really part of the family!

The evening went off without a hitch. We played outside, did a mock photo session in tutus and non-matching stripes and polka dot dresses, and even swam in our perfect kid-sized pool. Our dinner of SpongeBob Square Pants mac and cheese and hot dogs was a hit! We followed dinner with a viewing of the Monsters, Inc. movie. Minus the fact that Pete fell asleep 15 minutes into the movie, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening.

Triple the Trouble!

June 18, 2008

I’ve been photographing these three blue-eyed cuties for the last five years, since the twins were six months old. It is always amazing to me how much they change every year. When you just look at them, you think, sure they changed a bit, but when you compare this year’s images to last year’s you realize how their little kid features are slowly maturing and changing.

Having the opportunity to capture and document these changes, has to be one of my favorite things about photographing kids.

I just think this is too kwinky-dink not to share! Neither twin was in the camera room during the other’s session. It was just me alone with each of them, during the individual portions of their session. But somehow, completely on their own, with no encouragement from me, they both did the exact same move…how weird is that!
