Big Sister

June 16, 2010

Abby is the big sister for sure! She’s there to answer questions for little brother Matthew. She’s there to make sure he’s in the right spot. She’s always concerned with what brother is doing. Even when Matthew left the room, so we could photograph Abby all by herself, she was worried about Matthew and where he was going.

Once she got over the worry, she was ready to perform for the camera. Within seconds, her hands were on her hips and she was striking a pose.

The best part of my session with Abby was when I found out that she wants to be an archeologist when she grows up. “When she’s big and has her own house, she can be an archeologist, and dig up dinosaur bones, and then put them together and build big skeletons!”

What a sight that will be, little Miss Abby next to a gigantic dinosaur skeleton! Reach for the stars, Abby!

Potty Success!

June 16, 2010

I think the one thing that made Matthew smile the biggest, was when he told me that he goes potty on the potty! You could just see it etched across his face, how completely proud of himself he was of this awesome accomplishment! Though, of course, he did tell me a secret…that when he goes potty, he gets a car! That might have something to do with his excitement! It was so cute to hear him tell me about it, because it was this really quiet whisper, like it really was a big secret that we had to keep between us.

I can definitely say that, after the session with Abby & Matthew, I was exhausted…and so were Mommy and Daddy! Between the two of them, our patience was tested more than once!

Of course, that does happen when you ask an almost two year old and a three and a half year old to do multiple things. We squeezed Family, Mommy & Me, Daddy & Me, Sibling and Individuals all into one session, with an outfit change! Yes, we are crazy!

Despite the challenges, we ended up with some adorable images!

Too Helpful?

June 8, 2009

Is there such a thing as too helpful? Yes, there is! When it comes to Miss Abby and her little brother Matthew. Abby is SO sweet and cares SO much about Matthew, it’s absolutely adorable!

BUT…when it comes to session time, that’s not such a good thing. Being three years old now, Abby was totally working the camera, and having a great time. Matthew on the other hand, as expected, being 18 months old, was giving us a little bit more of a challenge.

I had tons of great images of Abby, and really wanted to get some of Matthew. So I asked Abby to stand next to me. Evidently, that was like me asking a pig to fly. She could not do it! She needed to show Matthew where to sit, where to stand, not to do that, if he fell she needed to help him get up. I was going crazy trying to get her out of the view of the camera, but yet keep him in it! She was adorable, but way too helpful!

First Year Album

April 30, 2009

Matthew’s Mommy & Daddy decided that the way they wanted to remember their kiddos’ first year was in a beautiful, timeless, leather album. We created their first album two years ago for Matthew’s older sister, Abby.

This past January, Matthew turned one! Since just a few days after he was born, Matthew has been visiting our studio once a month, every month! The result has been lots of adorable images. It was very difficult to narrow them down to fit in a twenty page album.

One of my favorite parts of the album are the journal entries and special memories provided by Mom. It’s the perfect way to add those very personal touches!

Now, we are just waiting for the album to be printed and bound together. I can’t wait to see the final product!

A Lot in One Weekend

January 29, 2009

You would never have guessed from Matthew’s face that he’d had a busy weekend, he was just as happy as could be! Even though, the day before his session, he had his twelve months shots and the morning of his session, he had his one year birthday party. Luckily, right before his session, he got a really big nap, so he was rested and raring to go!

Last month, Matthew was SO close to walking! He was cruising all around the furniture, completely supporting his own weight. All he had to do was let go. I thought for sure at his one year session we were going to have a runner on our hands…but, nope! He still won’t let go. I know one of these days it’s just going to happen, and he’ll never look back!

I think that nap gave Matthew the energy he needed to demolish his birthday cake beyond recognition! Yes, that is a birthday cake under his leg!

So Close

December 22, 2008

Matthew has been pulling up and cruising around furniture for months, but he just hasn’t taken that final step of letting go. Even when I was helping him stand up, he wasn’t putting any weight on me at all, but there was no way he was letting go. He had a tight hold on my fingers.

So of course, it only seemed fitting to give him a big chair to maneuver around. Which was also a great distraction to keep him in one place. The couple of times he let go, and got down on the ground to crawl, he was GONE! He can move fast on all fours!

October 28, 2008

Matthew is a cruiser! Along furniture, that is! He has figured out how to pull himself up, and is quite proficient at it. Once he’s up, he has no desire to go back down. So he has figured out how to move from one piece of furniture to the next. Sometimes he has to push them around to make it happen, but not to worry, he’ll figure it out!

Bobble Head on Legs

September 25, 2008

This is my term of endearment for Mister Matthew. At just eight months old, he has mastered the art of pulling himself up and standing while holding on. Unfortunately, there’s not much balance yet! His whole body kind of bobbles and shakes. It’s extremely cute and looks just like a bobble "head".

Despite our best efforts, Matthew was NOT a fan of hats!

Ready, Set…Stuck!

August 15, 2008

Matthew is very close to crawling, and he so wants to crawl. He gets up on all fours and sways back and forth and back and forth. He just hasn’t quite figured out what to do next. It’s too cute, because he looks so proud of himself, but he just can’t figure out what to do now!

And check out that adorable little white tooth sticking out of his bottom gums!
