Making It Work

August 14, 2012

My session with Cierra and Sydney was full of laughs, smiles, talk of boogers and stinky feet and lots of fun!

Sydney started the session off with her forced fake smile, which forced me to bring out the big guns! There’s nothing better than talking about boogers and stinky feet to get rid of fake, forced smiles! Before long, Sydney couldn’t do anything but laugh and smile…real laughs followed by real smiles!

For Cierra, it was the serious expressions that she couldn’t pull off. She’d try so hard, but it would look like she was trying. We figured out that, if she looked away and then quickly turned her head towards me, she could hold the serious expression long enough for me to capture a few images, before she’d bust out with the big smile again!

All in all, it was a fun and silly session…I couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Priceless Quotes

April 19, 2011

Mommy told me that she was interested in The Quote album for Sydney’s Five Year session, which meant I spent some time peppering Sydney with questions and loving every bit of her adorable answers!

I don’t want to give them all away, but I definitely have to share some of my favorites!

What color is happiness? “Yellow, because it’s the color of teeth. And you smile when you’re happy.”

What do you want to be when you grow up? “A Butterfly Fairy, because they get to fly around.”

How do you describe Love? “When you live with family.”

Who is your favorite person? “My Daddy, because he lets us do all kinds of things, except for the teeter totter.”

The imagination and creativity of a child!

Name Art News

June 4, 2010

I’m so excited! Our new Name Art product has been a huge hit! I’ve already created quite a few unique Name Art pieces for some personalized bedroom art!

I have heard, from a few clients, some concern over how many panels they would need to order to fit their child’s name. I want to put that concern to rest. We can easily fit more than one letter on a panel!

So, no worries! It’s doesn’t matter how long your kiddos name is, we can make it work!

Wound Up!

March 29, 2010

Sydney started out a little quiet, but, by the end of the session, I know Mommy thought I had given her some caffeine and sugar! Sydney was bouncing off the walls!

I love asking questions because I always get the best answers!

What’s your favorite thing to eat? “Peas. They’re the best!” (I don’t know if this is true, but she kept telling me peas were her favorite!)

What’s Mommy say? “Sydney Lou-Who!”

What’s Daddy say? “Oh, Syd”

What’s Cierra (big sister) say? “Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney” (You have to imagine a high pitched squeak and flapping of the arms to go along with this!)

All in all, Sydney and I had a blast!

High Energy!

July 6, 2009

I knew, from her three year session, that Sydney had high energy…but I really experienced it when we did their family session! Sydney never stopped moving! Combine older sister, Cierra, and Sydney together and you’re in for trouble. They were jumping on each other, knocking each other over, and if Cierra did it, Sydney would copy. It was craziness!

Happy, Happy!

April 17, 2009

You would never have known that Sydney’s session conflicted with her normal nap routine! She was just as happy as could be! I don’t think I got one serious image of her the entire session. She was just smiling and hamming it up the entire time.

She was so excited to be here! We actually made it through three whole outfits and she still wanted more!

Why is it that every time you tell a kiddo to make a funny face, this is the face they make??

Spin & Stop

April 24, 2008

Sydney was full of energy the day of her two year session. Whether it was dancing, playing ring around the rosy and falling on the floor, or spinning and stopping (one of her favorite activities) – she never held still! Nor did she stop talking – most of the time I could figure out what she was saying, but sometimes she was talking a mile a minute (very seriously), but I couldn’t quite catch the message. Ahh, to be two again!

Pete and I are leaving Sunday to attend a Studio Management Services Workshop! It should be a lot of fun and a great learning experience. It’s a small, hands-on workshop with attendees coming from 18 different studios across the country. It’s led by some great leaders in the photography industry.

We are quite excited! We had to send in our marketing materials and financial records a few weeks ago. Financial and business analysts have been examining our materials, preparing critics and suggestions on how we can become an even better studio.

We also will have the chance to tour a couple of studios in the Illinois area. It’s always fun to see how other studios set up their space, and to be inspired by others in the industry!

Plus, everyone can always use a recharge every once in a while!

Such Innocence!
